Lynn grew up on a horse farm in Pecatonica, IL.
Lynn's dad Jim Thompson was a cowboy from Texas. When she was growing up he trained horses and made western saddles. Lynn got to test out their training before they went back to their owners. When she would get bucked off he knew they might need a little more work. She enjoyed showing them in 4H and learning to barrel race and rope.
Lynn's dad passed away in 2019. Soon after that she met Nigel. She kept thinking that he would have really liked a visit from a little horse in the hospital in his last days. This is the driving force behind Nurturing Nigel.
The summer after Jim passed Lynn was invited to visit a mini horse farm in her old stomping grounds of Pecatonica, IL. She had no intentions of getting a horse in her adult life because she already owned a pack of sled dogs and other farm animals. But, when Nigel was born he had an accident and lost an ear. This made it hard to find someone who wanted him. When Lynn learned he could be kept with her goats it didn't take much convincing. Nigel came to Wait-A-While Playschool when he was about 6 months old. At the time he was about the same size as a goat.
